What is a pre-engineered metal building system?
A pre-engineered metal building system is a custom-engineered steel solution that optimizes and integrates steel framing, roofing and walls. It is the most popular low-rise commercial building solution in America because:
- Building design, fabrication, delivery and construction are all managed through one single source.
- Each building constructs quickly, saves energy, is long-lasting and is environmentally friendly, with virtually no waste in the manufacturing process – and materials are fully recyclable.
- Flexible interior and exterior elements allow numerous design alternatives. Exteriors can be clad with steel siding, wood, glass, aluminum, masonry, or concrete.
How long does it take to build a pre-engineered metal building?
Pre-engineered buildings are much quicker to build than buildings constructed with other materials. Because the building components arrive ready to assemble, the building can be constructed on average 50% faster than a conventionally built building. The construction schedule can also be predictable because all materials are delivered to the site at the same time.
What makes steel the best choice for my building?
This natural material is incredibly strong, non-toxic to produce, and infinitely recyclable and reusable—making it an excellent investment in the future of your business and your community. We use recycled steel to manufacture our steel frames, roofs, and wall systems, which help meet certification requirements and sustainability standards. Additionally, our steel systems can be relocated and reused, providing expanded adaptability for different end uses that greatly extends the usable life of your facility.
Why choose a metal building over conventional?
Construction of a metal building structure is at least 30% faster than conventional construction.
What does it mean to build green?
Building green is a movement toward constructing high-performance buildings that do more than house a business—they improve the local and global community. By combining design and manufacturing practices to include built-in sustainability features and materials, green construction creates environmentally responsible buildings that maximize savings and efficiency.
When it comes to technology, what computers do you use?
VP Command® proprietary software is the most advanced computerized design system in the industry. Using complex algorithms and insights, it works to notably reduce design and estimating time, accurately detail the building structure, and efficiently process the material through manufacturing.
With VP Command®, you can see the future of the entire project, including site-specific code parameters that are vital for LEED certification and innovative design procedures that help reduce materials and waste. You can even explore alternative design scenarios within your specific sustainable design parameters.
What are the advantages of VP Command?
VP Command is programmed to provide design output in formats compatible with advanced design tools that integrate with Building Information Modeling (BIM). And with the benefits of Metal Building Systems, all VP buildings are engineered to exact specifications for higher quality installation, ensuring fast and more efficient construction with lower life-cycle costs than traditional construction. Used on tens of thousands of industrial, commercial, and community buildings, VP Command is building technology that continues to demonstrate success for all building projects.
What is the average cost of a pre-engineered metal building?
While one might think this is easy to answer, they may not realize that there are several factors contributing to the cost of a pre-engineered metal building; local codes being a main driving force in the final price. Local building departments enforce code requirements for buildings such as wind speed, snow loads, and seismic activity. These codes can impact the structural components of the building, in turn effecting the overall price. Collateral loads (what you hang from your ceiling, such as sprinkler systems) and local energy codes (for insulation) can also affect the cost.
What is an Authorized VP Builder?
An Authorized VP builder is an experienced, qualified contractor that has been appointed to represent VP Buildings in their respective marketplace.
What types of framing systems does VP offer?
VP Buildings utilizes different framing systems based on the projects varying criteria. Please click on the following link to view our steel frame systems.
What types of paneling systems does VP offer?
The metal building panels offered by VP Buildings cover a wide range of materials and profiles. Please click on the following link to view our paneling systems.
Can I insulate my pre-engineered metal building after construction?
Our standard fiberglass insulation needs to be installed when the building is erected but you can use other forms of insulation, including spray foam, after the structure is erected.
Does my building come with anchor bolts? Can I purchase them with my building package?
Anchor bolts secure your pre-engineered metal building frames to the slab foundation. We can furnish anchor bolts or they are easily obtained through a local supplier.
How long does it take to receive a pre-engineered metal building once ordered?
Typically, lead-times vary depending on many factors, i.e., complexity, order type, manufacturing schedule, etc. In general, the less complex the building design is, the faster you will receive the building package.
What’s the typical insulation value in a pre-engineered metal building?
A typical building comes with 9-inch insulation in the roof (R30 value) and 6 inches in walls (R20), however, we can customize a design to suit your specific needs. We also specialize in insulated metal panels (aka sandwich panels) to meet today’s stringent energy codes.
Does my building include engineering?
VP’s buildings come with an engineered stamped set of drawings, including all schedules and certifications. Please note that you will need an engineer to design your foundation.
What codes does my pre-engineered metal building have to meet?
Your pre-engineered metal building must be designed to meet the environmental factors of the geographical area you live in. This is based on local building codes. The snow load, rain load, wind load and seismic data are different for each city in Alaska.
What regions or locations does Alaska Dreams, Inc. service?
Alaska Dreams Inc. services the entire State of Alaska; i.e., Anchorage, Fairbanks, Southeast Alaska, and the North Slope, we also work in various remote regions of Alaska.
